Happy Volunteers' Week 2024

LB Mencap wishes to say a massive THANK YOU to all our wonderful volunteers this Volunteers' Week!

2024 marks the 40th year of Volunteers’ Week (3-9 June), so here we are joining thousands of charities and voluntary organisations in recognising the contribution volunteers make across the UK. We currently have 52 people regularly donating their time to our groups and activities, and hope to encourage others to get involved in volunteering in whatever way works for them.

The contribution of volunteers is often unseen and unrecognised by many, visible only through the incredible impact of their volunteering, so taking the time during Volunteers’ Week to celebrate their efforts and all they contribute to our local communities, the voluntary sector and society as a whole has never been more important.

Without volunteers, LB Mencap's groups simply wouldn't run and so many people in our local community would be without support, friendship, respite and FUN. We are always on the look out for new volunteers, so if you think you might have a couple of hours to give each week and fancy joining a remarkable team, do get in touch.

In fact, you can come down to meet us in person and find out more tomorrow (8 June), 10am-2pm at All Saints' Church for the Volunteering Fair hosted by Totally Leighton Buzzard. Please come and say hi, we'd love to meet you.
